FGF3

  • Official Full Name

    fibroblast growth factor 3

  • Overview

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family. FGF family members possess broad mitogenic and cell survival activities and are involved in a variety of biological processes including embryonic development, cell growth, morphogenesis, tissue repair, tumor growth and invasion. This gene was identified by its similarity with mouse fgf3/int-2, a proto-oncogene activated in virally induced mammary tumors in the mouse. Frequent amplification of this gene has been found in human tumors, which may be important for neoplastic transformation and tumor progression. Studies of the similar genes in mouse and chicken suggested the role in inner ear formation.

FGF3 has several biochemical functions, for example, fibroblast growth factor receptor binding, growth factor activity, protein binding. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by FGF3 itself. We selected most functions FGF3 had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with FGF3. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

FGF3 has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with FGF3 here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of FGF3.
