17-178 a.a. |
Description : |
Nbl1 was initiallyidentified as a gene whose expression is downregulated in srctransformed ratfibroblasts. Nbl1 has now been shown to be a prototypical member of the Nbl1family of secreted glycoproteins that are putative BMP antagonists. Nbl1family members share a cysteine-rich domain that is structurally related tothe cysteine knot motif found in TGFβ superfamily ligands. There are at leastfive mouse Nbl1 family members, including Nbl1, Gremlin/DRM, Cer1, Dante andPRDC. Additional Nbl1 family members include Xenopus Cerberus, chick Caronte, and C. elegans CeCan 1. |
