Description : Vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 3 (VEGFR3), also known as FLT-4, together with the other two members VEGFR1 (FLT-1) and VEGFR2 (KDR/Flk-1) are receptors for vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGF) and belong to the class III subfamily of receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs). The VEGFR3 protein is expressed mainly on lymphatic vessels but it is also up-regulated in tumor angiogenesis. Mutations in VEGFR3 have been identified in patients with primary lymphoedema. The VEGF-C/VEGF-D/VEGFR3 signaling pathway may provide a target for antilymphangiogenic therapy in prostate cancer, breast cancer, gastric cancer, lung cancer, non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and so on.

FLT4 protein is associated with various tumor-related markers such as malignant lymphoma, breast cancer, and lung cancer.

Is there a relationship between FLT4 protein and lymphedema? 04/16/2022

FLT4 protein is a key regulator of lymphedema and plays an important role in lymphangiogenesis and lymphatic drainage.

Is FLT4 protein associated with congenital lymphedema? 06/01/2021

Yes, mutations in the FLT4 protein can lead to congenital lymphedema, a condition caused by abnormal lymphatic vessel development.

What is the potential of FLT4 protein in cancer treatment? 10/16/2020

The protein is considered an important target in anticancer therapy, and inhibition of its activity may reduce tumor angiogenesis and metastasis.

What is the role of FLT4 protein in pulmonary hypertension? 07/16/2020

FLT4 protein plays an important role in pulmonary hypertension, and upregulation of its activity may lead to pathological changes such as vascular remodeling and pulmonary artery stenosis.

What is the role of FLT4 protein in angiogenesis? 04/21/2019

This is involved in the regulation of angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis by binding to vascular endothelial growth factor C (VEGF-C) and vascular endothelial growth factor D (VEGF-D).
