Official Full Name CDK5 regulatory subunit associated protein 3
Background CDK5 regulatory subunit-associated protein 3 (Cdk5rap3) is a recently described regulator for Cdk5 activity through interaction with CDK5R1. It may also have a role in cell proliferation. Recent studies have shown Cdk5rap3 to have a crucial role in regulating apoptosis induced by genotoxic stress by interacting with the G2/M DNA damage checkpoint. Expression of Cdk5rap3 is considered ubiquitous, and has been observed in brain, heart, kidney, liver, lung, pancreas, placenta, and skeletal muscle.
