Official Full Name
gastrin-releasing peptide

Overview
Bombesin is a 14 amino acid peptide originally isolated from the skin of a frog. It has two known homologues in mammals called neuromedin B and gastrin releasing peptide. It works on the gastrointestinal tract neuroendocrine hormone and it stimulates gastrin release from G cells. It activates three different G-protein coupled receptors known as BBR1 2 & 3. It also activates these receptors in the brain. Together with cholecystokinin it is the second major source of negative feedback signals that stop eating behaviour. There are three different isoforms. -

GRP has several biochemical functions, for example, neuropeptide hormone activity, receptor binding. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by GRP itself. We selected most functions GRP had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with GRP. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

GRP has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with GRP here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of GRP.
