Official Full Name
complement factor D (adipsin)

Overview
Complement Factor D (CFD) is a 253 amino acid secreted protein that belongs to the peptidase S1 family. It contains 1 peptidase S1 domain. Complement Factor D cleaves factor B when the latter is complexed with factor C3b, activating the C3bbb complex, which then becomes the C3 convertase of the alternate pathway. Its function is homologous to that of C1s in the classical pathway. Complement Factor D catalyzes the selective cleavage of Arg-|-Lys bond in complement factor B when in complex with complement subcomponent C3b or with cobra venom factor. Defects in CFD are the cause of complement factor D deficiency (CFDD). CFDD is an immunologic disorder characterized by increased susceptibility to bacterial infections, particularly Neisseria infections, due to a defect in the alternative complement pathway. -

Cfd has several biochemical functions, for example, serine-type endopeptidase activity, serine-type peptidase activity. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by Cfd itself. We selected most functions Cfd had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with Cfd. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

Cfd has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with Cfd here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of Cfd.
