Recombinant Human IL-6

Cat.No.: IL6-505H
Product Overview: Recombinant Human IL-6 /Interleukin-6 Protein, HEK293 Expressed (rhIL6) Val30-Met212 (Accession # NP_000591) was produced in human 293 cells (HEK293).
Description: Interleukin 6 (IL-6),also known as HGF, BSF2,HSF, IFNB2 and IL-6, originally identified as a B cell differentiation factor, is a multifunctional cytokine that regulates immune responses, hematopoiesis, acute phase responses, and inflammatory reactions. It is secreted by T cells, macrophages , monocytes, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, et.al. to stimulate immune response to trauma, especially burns or other tissue damage leading to inflammation. Interleukin 6 has been shown to interact with interleukin-6 receptor and glycoprotein. IL-6 is relevant to many disease processes such as diabetes, atherosclerosis, depression, Alzheimer"s Disease, systemic, lupus erythematosus, prostate cancer and rheumatoid arthritis. Advanced/metastatic cancer patients have higher levels of IL-6 in their blood. Hence there is an interest in developing anti-IL-6 agents as therapy against many of these diseases.
Source: HEK293
Species: Human
Predicted N Terminal: Val30
Form: Lyophilized from 0.22 μm filtered solution in PBS, pH 7.4. Normally Mannitol or Trehalose are added as protectants before lyophilization.
Bio-activity: The bio-activity was determined by dose-dependent stimulation of the proliferation of mouse B9 hybridoma cells. The ED50<0.05ng l, corresponding to a specific activity of>2X10^7 Unit/mg.
Molecular Mass: rhIL6, a 183 amino acids protein, and has a calculated MW of 20.8 kDa. DTT-reduced protein migrates as 24 and 27 kDa monomer due to glycosylation.
Endotoxin: Less than 1.0 EU per μg of the human IL6 by the LAL method.
Purity: >98% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Storage: Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. No activity loss was observed after storage at: In lyophilized state for 1 year (4 centigrade-8 centigrade); After reconstitution under sterile conditions for 1 month (4 centigrade-8 centigrade) or 3 months (-20 centigrade to -70 centigrade).
