||Recombinant human GNMT protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques,34.9kDa (315aa).
||Glycine N-methyltransferase, also known as GNMT, catalyzes the synthesis of N-methylglycine (sarcosine) from glycine using S-adenosylmethionine (AdoMet) as the methyl donor. This protein affects DNA methylation by regulating the ratio of S-adenosylmethionine to S-adenosylhomocystine and participates in the detoxification pathway in liver cells. Also it is reported that GNMT expression is diminished in human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
