Official Full Name chaperonin containing TCP1, subunit 5 (epsilon)
Background The protein encoded by this gene is a molecular chaperone that is a member of the chaperonin containing TCP1 complex;(CCT), also known as the TCP1 ring complex (TRiC). This complex consists of two identical stacked rings, each;containing eight different proteins. Unfolded polypeptides enter the central cavity of the complex and are folded in;an ATP-dependent manner. The complex folds various proteins, including actin and tubulin. Alternate transcriptional;splice variants of this gene have been observed but have not been thoroughly characterized. In addition, three;pseudogenes of this gene have been identified.
Synonyms CCT5; chaperonin containing TCP1, subunit 5 (epsilon); T-complex protein 1 subunit epsilon; KIAA0098; T-complex protein 1, epsilon subunit; CCTE; CCT-epsilon; TCP-1-epsilon

CCT5 has several biochemical functions, for example, ATP binding, G-protein beta-subunit binding, beta-tubulin binding. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by CCT5 itself. We selected most functions CCT5 had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with CCT5. You can find most of the proteins on our site.
