MX2

  • Official Full Name

myxovirus (influenza virus) resistance 2 (mouse)

  • Overview

The protein encoded by this gene has a nuclear and a cytoplasmic form and is a member of both the dynamin family and the family of large GTPases. The nuclear form is localized in a granular pattern in the heterochromatin region beneath the nuclear envelope. A nuclear localization signal (NLS) is present at the amino terminal end of the nuclear form but is lacking in the cytoplasmic form due to use of an alternate translation start codon. This protein is upregulated by interferon-alpha but does not contain the antiviral activity of a similar myxovirus resistance protein 1.

MX2 has several biochemical functions, for example, GTP binding, GTPase activity, protein binding. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by MX2 itself. We selected most functions MX2 had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with MX2. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

MX2 has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with MX2 here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of MX2.
