Species : |
Mouse |
Source : |
E.coli |
Protein Length : |
23-155 a.a. |
Description : |
This gene encodes a soluble cytokine that is a member of the type II interferon class. The encoded protein is secreted by cells of both the innate and adaptive immune systems. The active protein is a homodimer that binds to the interferon gamma receptor which triggers a cellular response to viral and microbial infections. Mice deficient in this gene have increased susceptibility to viral, bacterial and parasitic infections and to several autoimmune diseases. |
Bio-activity : |
The ED50 is 0.2-0.6 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of 5 - 1.67 x 10^6 units/mg, determined by inhibition of WEHI-279 cell proliferation induced by mouse IFNγ. |
Molecular Mass : |
15.7 kDa |
Endotoxin : |
Less than 0.01 ng per µg protein as determined by the LAL method |
