• Official Full Name
  • podocalyxin-like
  • Background
  • This gene encodes a member of the sialomucin protein family. The encoded protein was originally identified as an important component of glomerular podocytes. Podocytes are highly differentiated epithelial cells with interdigitating foot processes covering the outer aspect of the glomerular basement membrane. Other biological activities of the encoded protein include: binding in a membrane protein complex with Na+/H+ exchanger regulatory factor to intracellular cytoskeletal elements, playing a role in hematopoetic cell differentiation, and being expressed in vascular endothelium cells and binding to L-selectin.

Protein Function

PODXL has several biochemical functions, for example, protein binding. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by PODXL itself. We selected most functions PODXL had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with PODXL. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

Interacting Protein

PODXL has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with PODXL here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of PODXL.
