IL6R

Official Full Name
interleukin 6 receptor

Overview
his gene encodes a subunit of the interleukin 6 (IL6) receptor complex. Interleukin 6 is a potent pleiotropic cytokine that regulates cell growth and differentiation and plays an important role in the immune response. The IL6 receptor is a protein complex consisting of this protein and interleukin 6 signal transducer (IL6ST/GP130/IL6-beta), a receptor subunit also shared by many other cytokines. Dysregulated production of IL6 and this receptor are implicated in the pathogenesis of many diseases, such as multiple myeloma, autoimmune diseases and prostate cancer. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported. A pseudogene of this gene is found on chromosome 9. -

IL6R has several biochemical functions, for example, ciliary neurotrophic factor binding, contributes_to ciliary neurotrophic factor receptor activity, enzyme binding. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by IL6R itself. We selected most functions IL6R had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with IL6R. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

IL6R has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with IL6R here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of IL6R.

Q&As (6)
Ask a questionThe dose and route of administration need to be determined according to the specific treatment situation. Common routes of administration include subcutaneous injection and intravenous injection.
It can be used to treat certain autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis.
The IL6R is primarily used to treat inflammatory diseases that have already occurred, rather than prevent them.
IL6R reduces inflammation by binding to interleukin-6 (IL-6), blocking the IL-6 signaling pathway.
Although IL6R can regulate the immune system, it is not a direct anti-tumor drug.
The efficacy of IL6R is usually evaluated based on improvement of clinical symptoms, changes in disease activity, and changes in biochemical markers.
