v-rel reticuloendotheliosis viral oncogene homolog A -
Overview
Transcription factor p65 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the RELA gene. NFKB1 (MIM 164011) or NFKB2 (MIM 164012) is bound to REL (MIM 164910), RELA, or RELB (MIM 604758) to form the NF-κB complex. The p50 (NFKB1)/p65 (RELA) heterodimer is the most abundant form of NF-κB. The NF-κB complex is inhibited by IκB (NFKBIA, MIM 164008 or NFKBIB, MIM 604495), which inactivate NF-κB by trapping it in the cytoplasm. Phosphorylation of serine residues on the I-kappa-B proteins by kinases (IKBKA, MIM 600664, or IKBKB, MIM 603258) marks them for destruction via the ubiquitination pathway, thereby allowing activation of the NF-κB complex. Activated NF-κB complex translocates into the nucleus and binds DNA at kappa-B-binding motifs such as 5-prime GGGRNNYYCC 3-prime or 5-prime HGGARNYYCC 3-prime (where H is A, C, or T; R is an A or G purine; and Y is a C or T pyrimidine).[supplied by OMIM] -

Protein Function
RELA has several biochemical functions, for example, DNA binding,NF-kappaB binding,RNA polymerase II core promoter proximal region sequence-specific DNA binding. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by RELA itself. We selected most functions RELA had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with RELA. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

Interacting Protein
RELA has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with RELA here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of RELA.
