| Description : |
CSF2 was initiallycharacterized as a growth factor that can support the in vitro colonyformation of granulocyte-macrophage progenitors. It is produced by a numberof different cell types (including activated T cells, B cells, macrophages, mast cells, endothelial cells and fibroblasts) in response to cytokine orimmune and inflammatory stimuli. Besides granulocyte-macrophage progenitors,CSF2 is also a growth factor for erythroid, megakaryocyte and eosinophilprogenitors. On mature hematopoietic cells, CSF2 is a survival factor for andactivates the effector functions of granulocytes, monocytes, macrophages, andeosinophils. |

| Biological Activity : |
Fully biologicallyactive when compared to standard. The ED50 as calculated by the dose-dependant stimulation of the proliferation of human TF-1 cells is less than0.1 ng/ml, corresponding to a Specific Activity of 1.0×10⁷ IU/mg. |
| Endotoxin Level : |
< 0.1 ng/µg ofprotein |
| Reconstitution : |
Centrifuge vialprior to opening. Reconstitute in sterile distilled water or aqueous buffercontaining 0.1% BSA to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. Stock solutionsshould be apportioned into working aliquots and stored at ≤-20°C. Further dilutionsshould be made in appropriate buffered solutions. |
| Storage : |
The lyophilizedprotein is stable at 2-4°C, but should be kept desiccated at -20°C for longterm storage. After reconstitution, the protein is stable for 1 week at2-4°C. For long term storage, aliquot and freeze at -80°C. Avoid repeatedfreeze-thaw cycles. |
