| Description : | Pyrimidine nucleoside phosphorylases catalyze the reversible phosphorolytic breakdown of the N-glycosidic bond of the pyrimidine nucleosides uridine, thymidine and 2'-deoxyuridine with the formation of the corresponding pyrimidine base and pentose-1-phosphate. The enzyme does not distinguish between alpha-D-ribose 1-phosphate and 2-deoxy-alpha-D-ribose 1-phosphate in the synthetic direction. A double desalted, almost phosphate free version is available for application in phosphate detection assays such as the PUB assay. |
