Description : |
Enpp7is expressedin the intestines and in bile. It shares 30 36% homology with the members ofthe nucleotide pyrophosphatase/phosphodiesterese (NPP) family while sharingno similarities with neutral or acid SMase. Its main function is thedigestion of dietary sphingomyelin by hydrolyzing sphingomyelin into ceramideand phosphorylcholine. Enpp7 is reported tohydrolyse and inactivate plateletactivating factor (PAF) by a phospholipase Ctypeactivity. Studies show a decrease in Enpp7 activityin human colorectal adenocarcinomas and human colorectal carcinomas, whichindicate a potential role of Enpp7 in human coloncancer. |

Activity : |
Measuredby its ability to hydrolyze sphingomyelin to ceramide and phosphorylcholine. The phosphorylcholine is cleaved by rhAlkaline Phosphatase/ALPL and thephosphate is detected or measured by a Malachite Green Phosphate DetectionKit. The specific activity is > 13000 pmoles/min/μg, as measured under thedescribed conditions. See Activity Assay Protocol. |
