| Description : | Adenylate kinase also known by its alternate names AK or myokinase is an important enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of two molecules of ADP into one molecule of ATP and one molecule of AMP. This process is often referred to as the adenylate kinase reaction. The enzyme has a molecular mass of approximately 23-25 kDa. Adenylate kinase is expressed in almost all types of cells with particularly high expression in metabolically active tissues such as the heart muscle and brain. |
