Description : | Uridine phosphorypase(UDP) catalyzes the reversible phosphorylytic cleavage of uridine and deoxyuridine to uracil and ribose- or deoxyribose-1-phosphate. The produced molecules are then utilized as carbon and energy sources or in the rescue of pyrimidine bases for nucleotide synthesis. This enzyme belongs to the family of glycosyltransferases, specifically the pentosyltransferases. The systematic name of this enzyme class is uridine:phosphate alpha-D-ribosyltransferase. Other names in common use include pyrimidine phosphorylase, UrdPase, UPH, and UPase. |

Q&As (6)
Ask a questionThe activity of UDP protein can be regulated by chemical modifications such as phosphorylation, dephosphorylation, and methylation. In addition, its activity can be regulated through interactions with other proteins.
In cell signal transduction, UDP protein can be used as a second messenger molecule to transmit signals to downstream effector molecules and participate in cell proliferation, differentiation, migration and other processes.
Studies have shown that the expression level of UDP protein in some tumors is abnormally elevated, which may promote the occurrence and development of tumors; In other tumors, the expression level of UDP protein may be reduced, resulting in impaired DNA synthesis and abnormal cell proliferation.
In the immune system, UDP protein can be used as an immunomodulatory molecule to participate in the activation, differentiation, proliferation and other processes of immune cells.
The regulation of UDP protein on gene expression can be studied by regulating its expression level or its activity.
New anticancer drugs or other therapeutic drugs can be developed through computer-aided drug design and other technologies targeting the active or binding sites of UDP proteins.
Customer Reviews (3)
Write a reviewUDP has a high band strength in Western blot, which improves the signal-to-noise ratio of the experiment.
Methods such as ELISA or immunostaining work well.
This protein performed well by testing kinetic parameters such as enzymatic reaction rate, binding affinity, etc.
