Cat. No. : Tert-574M.
Description : Telomeres are specialized structures at the ends of eukaryotic chromosomes which appear to function in chromosome stabilization, positioning and replication. At each cell division, the length of telomeric TTAGGG DNA repeats is shortened and cells ultimately stop dividing. Telomerase is a reverse transcriptase that synthesizes telomere DNA thereby compensating for telomere loss. Telomerease is expressed mainly in the nucleus of proliferating cells and lymphocytes.
Source : E. coli.

Ask a question
Are there genetic mutations associated with TERT that have clinical relevance? 09/03/2021

Yes, mutations in the TERT gene have been identified in certain genetic disorders. Understanding these mutations can be crucial for diagnosing and managing related conditions.

What are the challenges associated with targeting TERT for therapeutic purposes? 04/11/2021

One challenge is the potential impact on normal, healthy cells, as they also rely on TERT for telomere maintenance. Specific targeting of cancer cells without affecting normal cells is a significant hurdle.

What are the ethical considerations surrounding the manipulation of TERT for medical purposes? 01/27/2018

The ethical implications include concerns about unintended consequences, potential misuse, and ensuring equitable access to TERT-based therapies.

Can TERT expression be used as a predictive marker for treatment response in cancer patients? 03/27/2016

Research suggests that TERT expression levels may be indicative of treatment response. Patients with higher TERT expression might respond differently to certain therapies.

How does TERT contribute to aging, and are there potential anti-aging applications? 03/18/2016

TERT's role in maintaining telomeres is linked to cellular aging. Exploring ways to modulate TERT expression could have implications for anti-aging interventions.
