• Description: SERPINF2 is a memberof the serpin family of serine protease inhibitors and is a major inhibitorof Plasmin. Consequently, SERPINF2 has a major role in regulating theCoagulation Cascade. Mutations in SERPINF2 result in Alpha-2-AntiplasminDeficiency, a rare coagulation disorder characterized by unrestrainedfibrinolytic activity and severe hemorrhagic diathesis. Individuals with thiscondition may receive therapeutic SERPINF2 prior to surgery to preventpostoperative hemorrhaging.
