Description : | This gene encodes a protein found on the outer membrane of T-lymphocytes as well as some other immune cells. The encoded protein contains three scavenger receptor cysteine-rich (SRCR) domains and a binding site for an activated leukocyte cell adhesion molecule. The gene product is important for continuation of T cell activation. This gene may be associated with susceptibility to multiple sclerosis. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. |

Q&As (5)
Ask a questionCD6 provides co-stimulatory signals to T cells, influencing their activation and differentiation. This contributes to the regulation of adaptive immune responses.
CD6 genes exhibit polymorphisms, and certain variations are associated with susceptibility to autoimmune diseases, indicating a potential role in immune dysregulation.
CD6 is involved in immunological synapse formation, and its interactions with ligands, such as ALCAM, play a role in stabilizing T-cell interactions with antigen-presenting cells.
CD6 modulates T-cell trafficking and migration, impacting immune surveillance and inflammation. Its interactions with adhesion molecules contribute to these processes.
CD6 interacts with antigen-presenting cells, facilitating T-cell activation. This interaction is pivotal for the initiation and regulation of immune responses.
