Description: SDC2, previouslyknown as fibroglycan or heparan sulfate proteoglycan, is a member of thesyndecan family of Type 1 transmembrane proteins capable of carrying heparansulfate (HS) and chondroitin sulfate glycosaminoglycans. The four vertebratesyndecans show conserved cytoplasmic domains and divergent extracellularportions (except for GAG attachment sites). Among the Syndecans, SDC2 is mostsimilar to SDC4.
