Molecular Mass : The recombinant human AgRP/Fc is a disulfide-linked homodimeric protein. The reduced monomer consists of 350 amino acids and predicts a molecular mass of 39 kDa also estimated by SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions.
Protein Length : Met1-Thr132
Endotoxin : < 1.0 EU per μg of the protein as determined by the LAL method
Purity : > 97 % as determined by SDS-PAGE
Storage : Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20°C to -80°C
Store it under sterile conditions at -20°C to -80°C. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Reconstitution : It is recommended that sterile water be added to the vial to prepare a stock solution of 0.2 ug/ul. Centrifuge the vial at 4°C before opening to recover the entire contents.

Ask a question
Can AGRP be targeted for the treatment of obesity? 03/30/2022

AGRP and the melanocortin system are potential targets for developing anti-obesity therapies, and research is ongoing to develop selective agonists or antagonists to modulate AGRP signaling.

Is AGRP involved in other physiological processes besides appetite regulation? 03/04/2022

AGRP is also implicated in the modulation of autonomic functions, such as blood pressure regulation and cardiovascular control.

What are the downstream signaling pathways activated by AGRP? 03/02/2020

AGRP inhibits the signaling of melanocortin receptors, leading to reduced cAMP production and affecting intracellular pathways involved in appetite and energy regulation.

How is AGRP involved in the central regulation of energy balance? 02/24/2020

AGRP acts as a key neuropeptide in the hypothalamus, integrating signals from peripheral tissues to regulate energy homeostasis, appetite, and body weight.

What is the relationship between AGRP and the melanocortin system? 11/03/2019

AGRP functions as an antagonist to melanocortin receptors, counteracting the effects of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH), which promotes satiety and energy expenditure.

Can AGRP interact with other neuropeptides in appetite regulation? 10/10/2019

Yes, AGRP can interact with other neuropeptides, such as neuropeptide Y (NPY), and together they influence the central regulation of appetite and energy balance.

Can alterations in AGRP expression contribute to eating disorders? 07/06/2019

Dysregulation of AGRP expression or activity has been suggested to contribute to the development of certain eating disorders, such as binge eating disorder or hyperphagia.

Can AGRP be used as a diagnostic marker for metabolic disorders? 05/27/2019

While AGRP itself is not typically used as a diagnostic marker, studying its expression levels or genetic variations may provide insights into the risk and development of metabolic disorders.

How does AGRP regulate appetite? 07/23/2018

AGRP acts on the melanocortin receptors in the brain, inhibiting their activation and resulting in an increase in appetite and a decrease in energy expenditure.

Can AGRP be used as a biomarker for monitoring the efficacy of weight loss interventions? 05/11/2018

AGRP levels may have potential as a biomarker for monitoring the response to weight loss interventions, but further research is needed to establish its clinical utility.
