DHS catalyzes the NADdependent oxidative cleavage of spermidine, the subsequent transfer of the butylamine moiety of spermidine to the epsilonamino group of a specific lysine residue of the eIF5A precursor protein to form the intermediate deoxyhypusine residue. |
