Description: Transmembrane emp24 domain-containing protein 4 ( TMED4) is also known as Endoplasmic reticulum stress-response protein 25 (ERS25), GMP25iso, p24 family protein alpha-3 (p24alpha3), which belongs to the EMP24/GP25L family. TMED4 is involved in vesicular protein trafficking, mainly in the early secretory pathway. TMED4 appears to play a role in the biosynthesis of secreted cargo including processing. TMED4 is also involved in endoplasmic reticulum stress response, and may play a role in the regulation of heat-shock response and apoptosis.
