Description : This gene encodes a member of the peptidase S1 family. The encoded protein is a serum calcium-decreasing factor that has chymotrypsin-like protease activity. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been observed, but their full-length nature has not been determined.
Tissue specificity : Pancreas.
Biological activity : Activity: 40-70 units per mg protein. One unit is defined as the amount of enzyme that hydrolyzes one µmole of Suc-Ala-Ala-Pro-Phe-pNA per minute at 25°C, pH 8.0
