Description : DESC1 (differentially expressed in squamous cell carcinoma gene 1), a member of the TTSP (type II transmembrane serine protease) family of serine proteases, is an epithelial-specific enzyme that has been found downregulated in squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck region. We describe new properties of DESC1 suggesting that this protease may be involved in the progression of some type of tumours. Thus, this enzyme hydrolyses some extracellular matrix components, such as fibronectin, gelatin or fibrinogen.
Source : Drosophila Schneider 2 (S2) cells.
Formulation : Liquid. In 100mM TRIS, pH 9.0, containing 200mM sodium chloride and 10% glycerol.
Concentration : 100nM.
Biological Activity : Trypsin-like serine protease.
Specific Activity : ~2.5U/µl. One unit is defined at the amount of enzyme that releases 1nmol of AMC per min. at 37°C in the presence of 50µM Boc-Gln-Ala-Arg-AMC.
Stability : Stable for at least 6 months when stored at -20°C. Recommended Assay Buffer: 100mM TRIS, pH 9.0, containing 5mg/ml BSA. Do not store diluted solutions.
