| Description : | Mouse Transferrin is a blood plasma glycoprotein which binds iron and regulates the amount of available iron in circulation. Mouse Transferrin has a high affinity for iron, but this binding is reversible. Mouse Transferrin has a molecular weight of approximately 80kDa. Mouse Transferrin also plays a role in the immune system, creating environments low in iron for which many pathogenic bacteria are unable to thrive. |
| Form : | 0.01 M Sodium Phosphate, 0.25 M Sodium Chloride, pH 7.2 |
| Molecular Mass : | ~80 kDa |
| Purity : | Mouse Transferrin was prepared from normal serum by a multi-step process which includes delipidation and selective precipitation followed by extensive dialysis against the buffer stated above. Mouse Transferrin was assayed by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Mouse Transferrin and anti-Mouse Serum. |
| Applications : | Mouse Transferrin is a suitable protein for use as a control reagent in SDS, Western Blotting, and ELISA experiments. |
| Storage : | Store vial at 4 centigrade prior to opening. For extended storage aliquot contents and freeze at -20 centigradeor below. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. Mouse Transferrin is stable for several weeks at 4 centigradeas an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use. |
| Concentration : | 5.9 mg/mL by UV absorbance at 280 nm |
