Description : | CD6 (Cluster of Differentiation 6) is a cell surface glycoprotein that is involved in T cell activation and a member of the scavenger receptor cysteine rich protein superfamily (SRCRSF). CD6 is expressed at low levels on immature thymocytes and at high levels on mature thymocytes. CD6 appears to play a role as both a costimulatory molecule in T cell activation and as an adhesion receptor. Studies demonstrating a mitogenic effect for T cells with some CD6 specific monoclonal antibodies, in conjunction with either accessory cells or PMA and antiCD2 mAb, support the concept of CD6 as a co stimulatory molecule. |
Source : | Recombinant human CD6 /TP120 His18 -Glu398 (Accession Q8WWJ7) fused with a C-terminal His tag was produced in human HEK293 cells |

Q&As (5)
Ask a questionCD6 provides co-stimulatory signals to T cells, influencing their activation and differentiation. This contributes to the regulation of adaptive immune responses.
CD6 genes exhibit polymorphisms, and certain variations are associated with susceptibility to autoimmune diseases, indicating a potential role in immune dysregulation.
CD6 is involved in immunological synapse formation, and its interactions with ligands, such as ALCAM, play a role in stabilizing T-cell interactions with antigen-presenting cells.
CD6 modulates T-cell trafficking and migration, impacting immune surveillance and inflammation. Its interactions with adhesion molecules contribute to these processes.
CD6 interacts with antigen-presenting cells, facilitating T-cell activation. This interaction is pivotal for the initiation and regulation of immune responses.
