Cat. No. : | EIF4E-2775H |
Description : | EIF4E, a member of eukaryotic initiation factor 4 families, modulates translation of maternal mRNAs in early embryos before the onset of zygotic transcription. This protein recognizes and binds to the 7 methyl GTP cap structure of eukaryotic mRNAs, thereby mediating the initiation of translation. It facilitates ribosome binding by inducing the unwinding of the mRNAs secondary structures. |

Q&As (5)
Ask a questionCancer cells often exhibit elevated levels of EIF4E expression, leading to increased protein synthesis. This heightened activity is associated with tumor growth and aggressiveness.
Yes, researchers are exploring targeted therapies that aim to inhibit EIF4E activity in cancer cells. These therapies hold promise for treating certain types of cancer.
Elevated EIF4E activity in cancer cells can lead to increased synthesis of proteins involved in drug resistance mechanisms. This can reduce the effectiveness of chemotherapy and targeted therapies.
Yes, elevated EIF4E expression has been observed in some cancer types and is being investigated as a potential diagnostic and prognostic marker. However, further research is needed to establish its clinical utility.
Yes, dysregulated EIF4E expression has been associated with neurological disorders and viral infections. Researchers are studying its role in these diseases to explore potential therapeutic interventions.
