Description : | Key regulator of ligase activity of the anaphase promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C), which confers substrate specificity upon the complex. Associates with the APC/C in late mitosis, in replacent of CDC20, and activates the APC/C during anaphase and telophase. The APC/C rains active in degrading substrates to ensure that positive regulators of the cell cycle do not accumulate praturely. At the G1/S transition FZR1 is phosphorylated, leading to its dissociation from the APC/C. Following DNA damage, it is required for the G2 DNA damage checkpoint: its dephosphorylation and reassociation with the APC/C leads to the ubiquitination of PLK1, preventing entry into mitosis. |

Q&As (6)
Ask a questionFZR1 protein plays a negative regulatory role in the cell cycle and is involved in mitosis and post-mitosis.
This protein knockdown can lead to the disturbance of cell cycle regulation and affect the mitosis and post-mitosis of cells.
FZR1 protein can undergo post-translational modifications such as phosphorylation and ubiquitination.
This protein interacts with CDK1 (Cyclin-dependent kinase 1) and APC/C (Anaphase Promoting Complex/Cyclosome) protein complexes.
The expression of FZR1 protein fluctuated during the cell cycle and was highly expressed in the late mitotic period.
The phosphorylation of FZR1 protein can regulate its interaction with other proteins and affect its function.
