| Description : |
Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) consists of two subunits linked by a disulfide bond. The alpha subunit of HGF has a length of 440 amino acids and the beta subunit has a length of 234 amino acids. Both subunits of HGF are obtained by endoproteolytic cleavage of a common preproprotein which itself is biologically inactive. |

| Molecular Mass : |
Under reducing conditions HGF migrates as a broad band between 80 and110 kDa in SDS-PAGE due to post-translational modifications, in particular glycosylation. |
| pI : |
HGF separates into a number of isoforms with a pI between 6 and 9 in 2D PAGE due to post-translational modifications, in particular glycosylation. |
| % Carbohydrate : |
Purified HGF consists of 0-30% carbohydrate by weight. |
| Glycosylation : |
HGF contains N- and O-linked oligosaccharides. |
| Purity : |
>95%, as determined by SDS-PAGE and visualised by Coomassie Brilliant Blue. |
| Formulation : |
When reconstituted in 0.5 ml sterile phosphate-buffered saline, the solution will contain 1% human serum albumin (HSA) and 10% trehalose. |
| Reconstitution : |
It is recommended that 0.5 ml of sterile phosphate-buffered saline be added to the vial. |
| Storage : |
Lyophilised products should be stored at 2 to 8°C. |
| Activity : |
The ED50of HGF is typically 20 - 40 ng/ml as measured in a cell proliferation assay using the human HepG2 cell line. |
