Description : TRKA is a member of the neurotrophic tyrosine kinase receptor (NTKR) family which is a membrane-bound receptor that, upon neurotrophin binding, phosphorylates itself and members of the MAPK pathway. TRKA has a crucial role in the development and function of the nociceptive reception system as well as establishment of thermoregulation via sweating in humans. As one of the thyroid TRK oncogenes, TRK-T1 is created by an intrachromosomal rearrangement that juxtaposes the 5" end of the TPR gene to the TRK tyrosine kinase domain and shows frequent activation of the TRK in human papillary thyroid carcinoma.
