| Description : |
This gene encodes a member of a disintegrin and metalloprotease (ADAM) family of endoproteases that play important roles in various biological processes including cell signaling, adhesion and migration. The encoded preproprotein undergoes proteolytic processing to generate a mature enzyme that is involved in the proteolytic release of membrane-bound proteins in a process called ectodomain shedding. Mice lacking the encoded protein die in utero with multiple defects of the developing central nervous system, somites, and cardiovascular system. |
| Form : |
Supplied as 0.2 μm filtered solution in 20 mM Tris, 500 mM NaCl, pH7.5 with glycerol as protectant. |
| Bio-activity : |
Measured by its ability to cleave a fluorogenic peptide substrate Mca-PLAQAV-Dpa-RSSSR-NH2. The specific activity is >5 pmol/min/μg. |
| Molecular Mass : |
The protein has a calculated MW of 52.5 kDa. The protein migrates as 55-65 kDa when calibrated against Star Ribbon Pre-stained Protein Marker under reducing (R) condition (SDS-PAGE) due to glycosylation. |
| Endotoxin : |
Less than 1.0 EU/μg by the LAL method/rFC method. |
| Purity : |
>90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. |
