Highly expressed in testis, the cDNApredicted a type II transmembrane protein with a short cytoplasmic tail and alarge ectodomain. Both membranebound and soluble forms were comparable withregard to model substrates, pH optima and inhibitor profiles. The ectodomainof human MMEL1 was expressedwith an N-terminal His tag and purified.
