Cat. No. : | ELANE-1653H |
Description : | ELANE, like trypsin and chymotrypsin, is a serine protease that also hydrolyses amides and esters. It is produced in the pancreas as an inactive zymogen, proelastase, and activated in the duodenum by trypsin. ELANE is distinctive in that it acts upon elastin. This enzyme degrades elastin, collagen, and proteoglycan and has been implicated in the development of pulmonary emphesema and rheumatoid arthritis. |
Biological Activity : | 20-22 units per mg protein. One unit is defined as the amount of enzyme that hydrolyzes one micromole of Meo-Suc-Ala-Pro-Val-pNA per minute at 25°C in 100 mMTris-HCl, pH 7.5, with 500 mMNaCl. |
