Description: The Down"s syndrome candidate region 1 (DSCR1) protein, encoded by a gene located in the human chromosome 21, interacts with calcineurin and is overexpressed in Down"s syndrome patients. DSCR1 Inhibits calcineurin-dependent transcriptional responses by binding to the catalytic domain of calcineurin A, possibly affecting central nervous system development. DSCR isoform b is shorter at the N-terminus compared to isoform a.
