||Bone morphogenetic protein 4 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the BMP4 gene. The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the bone morphogenetic protein family which is part of the transforming growth factor-beta superfamily. The superfamily includes large families of growth and differentiation factors. Bone morphogenetic proteins were originally identified by an ability of demineralized bone extract to induce endochondral osteogenesis in vivo in an extraskeletal site. This particular family member plays an important role in the onset of endochondral bone formation in humans, and a reduction in expression has been associated with a variety of bone diseases, including the heritable disorder Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva.

||Lyophilized 100 μg human bone morphogenetic protein-8B in 50 μl of TBS ( 20 mM Tris, 50mM NaCl,pH8.0 ). Carry free.
||Add 500 μl deionized water to the vial to prepare a working stock solution at 200 μg/mL . Allow to set at least 30 minutes at 4° C, mix well.
||Store lyophilized protein at -20 °C or -70 °C. Lyophilized protein is stable for up to 6 months from date of receipt at - 20 °C to -70 °C. Upon reconstitution, this protein can be stored at -20 °C for a few weeks or at -70 °C in a manual defrost freezer for long term storage (six months). Aliquot reconstituted protein to avoid repeated freezing / thawing cycles.
