Recombinant Murine Interleukin 5

Cat. No.: Il5-206M
Product Overview: Recombinant murine IL-5 is a 26.2 kDa disulfide-linked homodimeric protein containing two 113 amino acid chains. It is expressed inE.Coli.
Description: Il-5 is a hematopoietic growth factor that stimulates the proliferation and activation of eosinophils. Produced by mast cells, T cells, and eosinophils, IL-5 plays an important role in inducing cell-mediated immunity against parasitic infections and certain tumors. Elevated levels of IL-5 lead to Eosinophilia, which may result in the induction of asthma and other allergic diseases. Human and murine IL-5 is cross-species reactive.
Source: E.Coli.
Sequence: 91 – 510.
Purity: Greater than 98% (determined by SDS-PAGE and HPLC analysis).
Specific Activity: ≥ 5 x 10⁵ IU/mg.
Endotoxin Level: < 0.1 ng per µg of rMu IL-5 (1EU/µg).
Biological Activity: The ED₅₀ as determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of the proliferation of human TF-1 cells is < 2.0 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of > 5 x 10⁵units/mg.
Formulation: Lyophilized from a sterile-filtered solution with no additives.
Reconstitution: Please Note: Always centrifuge product before opening vial. The lyophilized protein should be reconstituted with distilled, sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. For further dilution, carrier protein (0.1% BSA or HSA) should be added to avoid loss of bioactivity.
Storage: The lyophilized protein, though stable at room temperature for up to 3 weeks, is best stored desiccated at -20°C. Reconstituted protein should be used immediately or stored long-term in undiluted working aliquots at -20°C. For long-term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
