||Reticulon-4, also known as Neurite outgrowth inhibitor or Nogo, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the RTN4 gene that has been identified as an inhibitor of neurite outgrowth specific to the central nervous system.This gene belongs to the family of reticulon-encoding genes. Reticulons are associated with the endoplasmic reticulum, and are involved in neuroendocrine secretion or in membrane trafficking in neuroendocrine cells.

||The recombinant rat Nogo-A/Fc is a disulfide-linked homodimeric protein. Based on N-terminal amino acid sequencing, recombinant rat Nogo A starts at Thr 544. Each monomer has a calculated molecular mass of approximately 46.1 kDa. As a result of glycosylation, recombinant rat Nogo-A migrates as an approximately 75 - 85 kDa protein in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions.
||Measured by its ability to inhibit neurite outgrowth of cultured embryonic chick dorsal root ganglia neurons. Immobilized rrNogo/Fc on nitrocellulose coated microplate (at a 3 μL droplet containing 300 ng) issufficient to significantly inhibit neurite outgrowth.
