Description : Stores iron in a soluble, non-toxic, readily available form. Important for iron homeostasis. Has ferroxidase activity. Iron is taken up in the ferrous form and deposited as ferric hydroxides after oxidation. Also plays a role in delivery of iron to cells. Mediates iron uptake in capsule cells of the developing kidney.
Source : Spleen
Species : Horse
Form : Freeze-dried powder
Applications : Apoferritin is a gel filtration molecular weight marker that can be used in gel filtration chromatography and protein chromatography. Apoferritin has the ability to demetallate hemin and to metallate protoporphyrin. Apoferritin is used as a novel nanocarrier to load methylene blue (MB) and demonstrate its potential applications for photodynamic therapy of cancer.
Storage : Store in cool place. Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Store away from strong oxidizing agents, heat.
Reconstitution : Reconstitute in 0.15 M NaCl
Gene Name : FTH1 ferritin heavy chain 1 [ Equus caballus (horse) ]
