Description : ICOS ligand (ICOSLG) is also known as B7 homolog 2 (B7-H2), B7-related protein 1 (B7RP-1) and CD antigen CD275, which belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily and BTN/MOG family. ICOSLG contains one Ig-like C2-type (immunoglobulin-like) domain and one Ig-like V-type (immunoglobulin-like) domain. Isoform 1 is widely expressed, while isoform 2 is detected only in lymph nodes, leukocytes and spleen. B7-H2 is ligand for the T-cell-specific cell surface receptor ICOS. B7-H2 acts as a costimulatory signal for T-cell proliferation and cytokine secretion and induces also B-cell proliferation and differentiation into plasma cells. B7-H2 could play an important role in mediating local tissue responses to inflammatory conditions, as well as in modulating the secondary immune response by co-stimulating memory T-cell function.

Ask a question
How to evaluate the role of icosg proteins in the immune system? 10/06/2022

ICOSLG protein plays an important regulatory role in the immune system. It binds to ICOS receptors on the surface of T cells and promotes the activation and differentiation of T cells, which in turn affects the strength and direction of the immune response.

Which biomolecules can be used as molecular markers for ICOSLG proteins? 02/25/2022

Certain biomolecules can serve as molecular markers of ICOSLG proteins, such as mRNAs or proteins of ICOSLG proteins detected in biological samples such as blood and urine. These markers can be used for early diagnosis of disease, prognostic judgment, or monitoring of treatment efficacy.

What factors need to be considered in drug development for ICOSLG proteins? 12/10/2020

Factors to be considered in drug development for ICOSLG proteins include drug specificity, safety, pharmacokinetic properties, etc. In addition, the dosage form, route of administration, and dosage of the drug need to be considered to develop an effective treatment plan.

What factors can affect the expression of ICOSLG protein? 06/09/2020

A variety of factors can affect the expression of ICOSLG protein, including cytokines, inflammatory factors, immunostimulants, etc. These factors can stimulate or inhibit the expression of ICOSLG protein, which in turn affects the strength and direction of the immune response.

What are the therapeutic strategies for ICOSLG protein? 05/06/2020

Therapeutic strategies targeting ICOSLG proteins include inhibition of its activity, modulation of its expression, and gene therapy. For example, the development of small molecule inhibitors or antibody drugs against ICOSLG protein to inhibit its aberrant activity in disease, or the regulation of ICOSLG protein expression through gene knockout or overexpression technology.

How to evaluate the potential of ICOSLG protein as a drug target? 02/21/2020

Assessing the potential of ICOSLG proteins as drug targets requires a comprehensive analysis. Factors to consider include the structure and function of the ICOSLG protein, its role in the immune system, interactions with existing medications, and potential therapeutic efficacy and safety.
