Description : | Bone Morphogenetic Protein-8B (BMP-8B) is an extracellular multifunctional signaling cytokine that is also a member of the TGF-β family. BMP-8B can bind with the TGF-β receptor and is involved in SMAD protein signal transduction. BMP-8B plays a role in bone and cartilage development. It is expressed in brown adipose tissues and the hypothalamus, which can affect thermogenesis and susceptibility to obesity. |
