Product Overview: Recombinant Human Stromal Derived Growth Factor-1-beta (H-SDF-1-beta) is an important chemoattractant for T-lymphocytes and monocytes. The human amino acid sequence shares 100% homology to the feline SDF-1-beta. Recombinant H-SDF-1-beta is a polypeptide chain comprised of 72 amino acids with a molecular weight of 8,526 kDa.
Description: SDF-1 (stromal cell-derived factor-1) is small cytokine belonging to the chemokine family that is officially designated Chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 12 (CXCL12). Stromal cell-derived factors 1-alpha and 1-beta are small cytokines that belong to the intercrine family, members of which activate leukocytes and are often induced by proinflammatory stimuli such as lipopolysaccharide, TNF, or IL1. The intercrines are characterized by the presence of 4 conserved cysteines that form 2 disulfide bonds.

Bio-activity: H-SDF-1-beta is fully biologically active when compared to standard. Activity is determined by the ability to chemoattract human peripheral T cells stimulated with IL-2 and PHA in a concentration range from 10-75 ng/ml.
Physical Appearance: Sterile Filtered white lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder.
Solubility: Centrifuge vial before opening. When reconstituting the product, gently pipet and wash down the sides of the vial to ensure full recovery of the protein into solution. It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized product with sterile water at a concentration of 0.1 mg/ml, which can be further diluted into other aqueous solutions.
Purity Greater than 97% as determined by: Analysis by RP-HPLC. Reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE.
Protein Content determined by: UV spectroscopy at 280 nm. Quantitation on SDS-PAGE against a known standard.
Storage: Lyophilized H-Galectin-3 should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution the product should be aliquoted and stored at below -18°C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).
