Cat. No. : SIRT6-4883H
Description : SIRT6 is a member of the sirtuin family of proteins which are homologs to the yeast Sir2 protein. Sirtuin family contain a sirtuin core domain and are grouped into four classes with SIRT6 being a member of class IV. Human SIRT6 protein is a NAD (+)-dependent histone H3 lysine-9 deacetylase that modulates telomeric chromatin. SIRT6 associates specifically with telomeres and SIRT6 depletion leads to telomere dysfunction with end-to-end chromosomal fusions and premature cellular senescence.

Q&As (6)

Ask a question
How is SIRT6 involved in DNA repair? 11/10/2021

SIRT6 can participate in the DNA repair process by influencing the activity of DNA repair enzymes through deacetylation modification.

What is the nutritional significance of SIRT6? 08/30/2021

This proteinexpression of genes related to fat metabolism through deacetylation modifications.

Does SIRT6 have therapeutic potential? 09/25/2020

Yes, SIRT6 has therapeutic potential. In tumor therapy, drug activation or gene therapy targeting SIRT6 may become a new avenue for treating tumors. At the same time, activators for SIRT6 are also being developed.

How does SIRT6 affect nutrient metabolism and energy balance? 05/19/2020

SIRT6 regulates the expression of specific genes through deacetylation, which in turn affects nutrient metabolism and energy balance. For example, in adipocytes, activation of SIRT6 may lead to abnormal expression of genes related to adipopocyte, which in turn affects processes such as differentiation, proliferation, and apoptosis of adipocytes.

What is the effect of loss of SIRT6 on cells? 01/31/2020

Deletion of SIRT6 may lead to cell growth arrest, increased apoptosis, and genomic instability.

How do the expression levels of SIRT6 differ in different tissues and cells? 01/01/2020

There are differences in the expression levels of SIRT6 in different tissues and cells. For example, in tissues and cells such as the reproductive system, nervous system, and immune system, there may be varying degrees of variation in the expression levels of SIRT6.
