Description : The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine that acts as a regulator of a variety of hematopoietic cells. This cytokine stimulates cell proliferation and prevents apoptosis. It functions through the interleukin 9 receptor (IL9R), which activates different signal transducer and activator (STAT) proteins and thus connects this cytokine to various biological processes. The gene encoding this cytokine has been identified as a candidate gene for asthma. Genetic studies on a mouse model of asthma demonstrated that this cytokine is a determining factor in the pathogenesis of bronchial hyperresponsiveness.
Conjugation : HIS
Biological activity : Bioactivity is assayed by measuring the dose dependent effect of Human IL9 on proliferation of murine TS1h9RA3 cell line, transfected with Human IL9 receptor (Renauld & Van Snick, Curr. Prot. in Immunol.2002). The ED50 for this batch is 120 pg/ml.
Form : Lyophilised:Reconstitute the lyophilized protein in sterile water, to a concentration of no less than 100 μg/ml. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).
Purity : >95% by SDS-PAGE
Storage buffer : Preservative: NoneConstituents: PBS
Storage : The lyophilized protein is stable for a few weeks at room temperature, but best stored at -20°C.
Sequence Similarities : Belongs to the IL-7/IL-9 family.
