||Activator of 90 kDa heat shock protein ATPase homolog 1 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the AHSA1 gene. AHSA1 has been shown to interact with Heat shock protein 90kDa alpha (cytosolic), member A1. The co-chaperone Aha1 (Activator of HSP90 ATPase-1) binds the middle domain of Hsp90(amino acid 272-627) and is proposed to function as an ATPase-activating protein that competes with p23 and other co-chaperones for Hsp90 binding.

||The addition of AHA1 increased ATPase activity of hsp90α from 0.18 to 0.94 pmol/min/ug. Assay conditions: 50 μl reaction mix (100 mM Tris-HCl pH7.4, 20 mM KCl, 6 mM MgCl2, 200 Μm ATP, and 5 μg Hsp90α) was incubated with Aha1 (0-10 μg) for 3 hrs at 37ºC. To stop the reaction, 100 μl of the malachite green reagent was added to each well. Absorbanceat 620 nm was measured.
