||Protein phosphatase 2A is one of the four major Ser/Thr phosphatases and is implicated in the negative control of cell growth and division. PPP2R4 serves as a scaffolding molecule to coordinate the assembly of the catalytic (PP2AC, GLO132-001) and variable B subunits, generating functionally diverse heterotrimers of the phosphatase. The A subunit contains 15 tandemly-repeated HEAT sequences which may participate in its function as a scaffolding molecule. The A subunit also serves to regulate the substrate selectivity and allosterically modulates the enzymatic properties of PP2Ac, namely via its polycation response.
