• Description: The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine that controls the production, differentiation, and function of macrophages. The active form of the protein is found extracellularly as a disulfide-linked homodimer, and is thought to be produced by proteolytic cleavage of membrane-bound precursors. The encoded protein may be involved in development of the placenta. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
• Form: Sterile Filtered White lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder. The lyophilized protein (1mg/ml) was lyophilized with 20mM phosphate buffer, 1% HSA and 3% manntiol.
• Bio-activity: The ED50, calculated by the dose-dependant stimulation of the proliferation of murine M-NFS-60 indicator cells was found < 3ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of less than 333,333.33units/mg.

• Storage: Lyophilized Macrophage Colony Stimulating Factor although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution MCSF should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C. Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
• Reconstitution: It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized M-CSF in sterile 18MΩ-cm H2O not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
